Committees
In addition of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, the National Christmas Tree Association benefits from the leadership of three committees that work to advance the association’s strategic priorities. These committees provide an opportunity for NCTA members to use their expertise to guide the association’s services to members and the industry, and play an important role in ensuring the continued relevance of NCTA programs.
Professional Committee
Paul Schroeder, Chair
The mission of the Professional Committee is to inform and educate Christmas Tree professionals through communications, publications, conferences, member services and relations with affiliated associations.
Protection Committee
Tom Dull, Chair
The Protection Committee is charged with shaping programs that protect the use and production of Real Christmas trees. This includes Holiday Safety (tree care and electrical codes), Legislative and Regulatory Affairs (wage and labor issues, fair trade, ag status for the industry, inclusion in specialty crop opportunities, crop protection product labeling, bugs, quarantines, etc.), inaccurate information, environmental issues and threats from competing industries, such as artificial Christmas trees.
Resources Committee
Bob Schaefer, Chair
The mission of Resources Committee (formerly Promotion Committee) is to identify resources that enhance the value of NCTA to its members and key partners and to ensure that sufficient financial funds exist to support these strategies. The committee oversees the resources and tools NCTA provides to:
Advocate for the industry
Support member needs
Ensure Real Christmas Trees continue to have their rightful place as a holiday tradition
Create synergy with state and regional associations and other strategic partners
Demonstrate economic impact
Communicate NCTA’s value
